The Wookey Juggernaut is truly a load-master. The Sanskrit definition for Juggernaut defines it as "lord of the world". Other definitions include "anything that exacts blind devotion or terrible sacrifice "and" any terrible, irresistible force. Needless to say, the pack is aptly named.
The Juggernaut is a versatile mid-volume pack that gets the job done in style whether you are simply stretching the legs on a long walk through the woods or bagging peaks in the Absarokees. Face it folks, most of us are weekend warriors and these mid volume packs are what we really use the most, and the features found on the Juggernaut allow it to perform perfectly under any conditions.
The panel-loading feature of the Juggernaut allows for easy access to the main compartment of the pack. This is important for a number of reasons. The easier it is to get in to a pack, the easier it is to load. Because it is easy to load, it is easy to organize the load. Organization ultimately leads to enhanced compressibility and stability, which in turn leads to a better handling backpack. The bottom line is the better your pack feels on your back, the more fun you are going to have, and after all, it's all about fun, right?
The Juggernaut also features a second zippered access to the main compartment. This allows you to get at your load if you have things lashed on to the outside of the pack, and again, increases accessibility. There is also a mesh pocket inside for a water bladder, and a specialized tube exit aperture that directs to tube to the shoulder strap. There is a second internal mesh pocket for small necessities, and a snap-hook for keys.
The top pocket on the Juggernaut is removable and transforms in to a hip-pack in about 180 seconds by using the hip-belt found on the pack. You could also buy an extra hip-belt and you wouldn't have to take the hip-belt off of your pack to set it up. The best part is that the top lid really is a hip-pack! Most conversion systems out there have a bunch of extra skirting material on the top lid. Because ours eliminates the need for the skirting it you have a hip-pack that is free of unnecessary clutter. The zippered access is closed using a YKK urethane zipper the top-pocket has tow water bottle holders that are made to specifically fit the Nalgene one liter bottles.
The frame system for the Juggernaut combines aerospace technology with plain old common sense to provide an integrated system that delivers the support in all of the right places all of the time. The main feature of the frame system is a high tensile Delrin rod that that runs around the periphery of the load, and transfers the weight to the hips. The springy Delrin rod works as active load suspension by bearing the tension of the load-compression straps and the inner compression system, thus preventing the weight of the load from hanging off of the framesheet. The rod also helps center and balance the load while maintaining the streamlined shape of the pack.
This rod works in conjunction with the foam back panel and framesheet to provide a truly comfortable load, even under the most extreme conditions. Lets face it, we all place our packs under duress at least once or twice, hauling rocks, water, text books, you get the picture. The frame and harness system on this pack are designed with this in mind and will not let you or your load down.
The harness systems on the Juggernaut are typically found only on larger packs. The shoulder harness and hip belt are fully removable, replaceable, sizable, and are constructed using proprietary techniques that we can not talk about, even here. The shoulder harnesses are not only ergonomically "S" curved, but are also curved over the shoulder, adding a third diminution to our tailoring. These straps are hands down the best on the market. The foam is a triple density laminate wrapped in Cordura and our breathable Cordura mesh. The hip belt has its own framesheet that forms a spoon shape that is just great on the hips. The framesheet and dual density foam allow our hip-belt to carry as much of the load of the pack as you want to put on it. The hip-belt automatically cants to the angle of your hips and works with the motion of your pelvis as you walk, run and climb. Both the shoulder harness and hip-belt work concomitantly with the frame system to provide you with a pack that delivers peak performance, no matter what you are carrying.
