With closed cell foam flotation/padded panels around the waist it aides in providing buoyancy and comfort. If the closed cell foam flotation panels are not needed they can be easily removed. There are pouches for numerous items such as MAS pouches, smoke grenades, canteens, parachute flares, radios, etc. Worn snugged to the body, it doesn't interfere with backpacks or E&E Gear.
